Vice President Kashim Shettima Conveys Condolences on Behalf of President Tinubu for the Late Sheikh Abubakar Giro

 

In a solemn visit to Argungu, Kebbi State, Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Bola Tinubu in offering heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Sheikh Abubakar Giro, who passed away on September 6, 2023. Shettima described the demise of the esteemed scholar as a profound loss not only to Kebbi State and Nigeria but also to the entire West African subregion.

 

President Tinubu, currently abroad, had personally directed Vice President Shettima to pay his respects and commiserate with the bereaved family, the government, and the people of Kebbi State, as well as the broader northern community.

In his tribute, Vice President Shettima praised the late Sheikh Abubakar Giro as a highly respected scholar who devoted his life to serving God and remained indifferent to worldly pursuits. He lauded the humility and dedication with which Sheikh Giro lived his life and prayed for divine forgiveness of any shortcomings, wishing him eternal peace.

 

The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sumaila Mera, expressed pride in the accomplishments of the departed scholar, emphasizing the positive impact Sheikh Giro had on the community during his lifetime.

 

Sheikh Bala Lau, the National Chairman of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah, who welcomed Vice President Shettima on behalf of the Giro family and other national officials, extended gratitude to President Tinubu and the vice president for their empathetic gesture during this difficult time.

 

Upon his arrival at the Sir Ahmadu Bello Airport in Birnin Kebbi, Vice President Shettima was received by Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, who accompanied him throughout the condolence visit. The delegation also included the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Sen. Umar Tafida, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, and members of the Kebbi State Executive Council, along with other dignitaries.

 

The nation mourns the loss of Sheikh Abubakar Giro, whose contributions as a scholar and spiritual leader left an indelible mark on the lives of many.
