A two-year-old girl has been rescued by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). The little girl, now temporarily named Chiamaka Favor, was taken from Abuja in February 2025 and trafficked all the way to Aba, Abia State.
According to a statement released by NAPTIP on Friday, the child was rescued on May 8 by the agency’s Abia State Command. Her suspected trafficker was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and handed over to NAPTIP. Shockingly, the suspect is believed to have worked with three separate trafficking groups based in Abuja and allegedly sold the child to a buyer for just ₦100,000.
NAPTIP is currently investigating the matter further and is working hard to uncover everyone involved in this terrible act. The agency is also making an urgent appeal to the public, especially anyone who may know the child’s real family. They’re asking the biological parents or any relatives to contact them immediately so the child can be reunited with her loved ones.
This case isn’t an isolated one. Just last month, in April, NAPTIP—alongside the Taraba State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development—rescued eight other children. Those children were taken from their homes under false pretenses and trafficked to places like Aba, Onitsha, and other parts of Imo State. It’s clear that traffickers are still preying on the most vulnerable, and cases like these are becoming far too common.
NAPTIP is urging the public to stay alert and help by reporting any suspicious movement of children or unusual behavior in their communities. With everyone’s cooperation, more children can be saved, families can be reunited, and those responsible can be brought to justice.
If you have any information about this child or know her family, please reach out to NAPTIP immediately. No piece of information is too small—it might just be what helps bring a child home.
