Tinubu’s Aide Awards Scholarship to Boy Who Scored 360
A 16-year-old student, Sodiq Shoyode, has earned a full scholarship from Mr. Kamorudeen Yusuf, President Bola Tinubu’s Personal Assistant on Special Duties, after scoring an impressive 360 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The young genius, who hails from Ado-Odo Local Government Area in Ogun State, stunned many Nigerians when his result surfaced online and quickly went viral. People across the country praised Sodiq, not only for his academic brilliance but also for overcoming economic limitations.
Presidential Aide Steps In
Mr. Yusuf was deeply moved by the teenager’s achievement and reached out to support him. According to a statement released on Monday, Yusuf has committed to fully sponsoring Sodiq’s university education. Additionally, he will provide Sodiq with a laptop and cover his training at a **top digital academy in Lagos to help him begin his journey in software development.
“As part of his commitment, the presidential aide will provide a laptop for Sodiq’s training at a top digital academy in Lagos, in addition to sponsoring his university education,” the statement read.
This gesture adds to Yusuf’s ongoing education support initiatives. Just recently, he awarded N10 million in scholarships to students in Lagos State.
Student’s Dedication and Dream
Sodiq revealed that he had set the goal of scoring **above 360 since his early days in Senior Secondary School 1 (SS1). “I have always had the goal of scoring 360 and above in JAMB since I was in SS1, and I’m glad I was able to achieve it,” he said proudly.
He attributed his success to a consistent study routine, adding that he regularly took practice tests and reviewed his progress weekly to improve weak areas.
“I did a lot of practice tests and tracked my weekly progress to know where to improve,” Sodiq explained.
Although his primary academic goal is to study **Mechanical Engineering**, Sodiq is also passionate about **Back End Software Development**. The opportunity to learn digital skills at a top academy before starting university is, according to him, “a dream come true.”
Family and Community Reactions
Sodiq’s parents, Mr. Nojimu and Mrs. Oluwatoyin Shoyede, expressed deep gratitude to Mr. Yusuf. They said his kind gesture would significantly reduce the financial burden on their family.
“I appreciate my parents for their support and encouragement, especially Mr. Kamorudeen Yusuf. He has promised to lighten the financial burden on my parents. I’m eternally grateful, sir,” Sodiq stated.
Many community members and social media users have hailed the presidential aide’s generosity, calling it an inspiration and a worthy investment in Nigeria’s future.
### Encouraging Excellence
Education advocates have commended both Sodiq’s hard work and the reward he received. They believe such recognition motivates other students to aim high and reminds government officials and stakeholders of the importance of investing in young talents.
As more young Nigerians take on competitive exams like UTME, stories like Sodiq’s give hope and prove that excellence can emerge from any background when hard work meets opportunity.
