Police Arrest Husband for Allegedly Killing Wife in Borno

The suspects, identified as Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim, 31 years old, and Bukar Wadiya, 39 years old, both residents of Dikechiri, were apprehended after Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim went to the Gwange Division accompanied by Wadiya, seeking emergency help from the police. Adamu claimed that Fatima Alhaji Bukar was his wife and that he had found her lying in a pool of blood upon returning home from work.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. when Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim had left their residence in the Dikechiri Bayan Gidan Dambe area of Maiduguri to attend prayers at a nearby mosque.
Upon investigation, the police secured the couple’s residence and discovered disturbing evidence. Inside the house, law enforcement officers found a short pestle, a bag rope, a rug carpet stained with blood, a knife, and a mucus-stained pillow. Significantly, there was no evidence of forced entry, suggesting that the perpetrator had access to the house, possibly with a key.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Sani Shatambaya, issued a press statement confirming the arrest of the husband and his accomplice. The statement revealed that Adamu Alhaji Ibrahim claimed to work at UBA Bank and had reported the incident to the police upon discovering his wife’s lifeless body.
