Organ Harvesting Case In Enugu- Police Calrifies

Organ Harvesting Case In Enugu- Police Calrifies-The Enugu State Police Command has launched an extensive manhunt for suspects involved in a widely circulated viral video that allegedly shows an attempt to harvest the organs of two women in a hotel. DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the police spokesperson, provided clarity on the situation after a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to Ndukwe, the initial narrative suggested that two women were rescued from a hotel room in Enugu where they were supposedly tied up by two men attempting to harvest their organs. However, the investigation revealed that this was a case of extortion and fraud, not organ harvesting or attempted murder as initially believed.

Ndukwe explained that the two women, identified as commercial sex workers, encountered the suspects on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at a hotel along Agbani Road, Enugu. The women met the same men again the following day, Thursday, July 4, at the same hotel, where the situation took a dark turn. The suspects menacingly demanded the women’s phones and account details, including their Personal Identification Numbers (PINs), before beating and tying them up in the hotel room’s toilet.

The suspects managed to leave the hotel before the victims were rescued, as seen in the viral video. They also fraudulently withdrew a cumulative sum of ₦120,000 from the victims’ bank accounts. A bag containing two kitchen knives and sportswear left behind by the suspects was recovered, and the police have initiated an intelligence-guided investigation to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.

In the wake of this incident, DSP Ndukwe emphasized the need for hotel owners and managers to maintain the highest standards of security alertness. He urged them to ensure that lodgers are properly screened and their verifiable details are obtained before being accommodated. This measure is crucial in preventing similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Furthermore, Ndukwe advised young women to exercise caution when going out with unknown individuals, particularly men, to avoid falling prey to criminals who engage in such nefarious activities. He reiterated the importance of personal safety and vigilance in such situations.

The Enugu State Police Command is committed to unraveling the full details of this case and ensuring that the suspects are apprehended. The command also seeks to educate the public on the true nature of the incident to dispel any misleading information and alleviate public fear.

This incident has sparked widespread concern and highlighted the need for increased awareness and vigilance regarding personal safety and security in public and private spaces. The police command’s efforts in addressing this issue underscore their dedication to maintaining law and order, protecting citizens, and preventing criminal activities within the state.
