Atiku Abubakar Presents Fresh Evidence in Supreme Court Against President Tinubu

Atiku Presents Fresh Evidence in Supreme Court Against President Tinubu. Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has filed compelling new evidence against President Bola Tinubu at the Supreme Court. Atiku, accompanied by his legal team led by Chief Chris Uche (SAN), has urgently petitioned the apex court to consider fresh evidence regarding Tinubu’s academic records, which Atiku alleges were forged and submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to qualify for the presidential race.

Atiku, who fervently urges the Supreme Court to accept this new evidence, revealed that he obtained these records from the Chicago State University (CSU) on October 2, 2023. The evidence in question is a 32-page document, the authenticity of which has been corroborated by a deposition made by Caleb Westberg on behalf of CSU, confirming that the certificate presented by Tinubu did not originate from the university.

In a motion invoking various legal provisions, including Order 2, Rule 12(1) of the Supreme Court Rules 1985 and Section 137(1) of the 1999 Constitution, Atiku implored the court to grant him permission to present this vital evidence. He emphasized that this evidence is indispensable in establishing Tinubu’s alleged forgery and perjury, actions that, according to Atiku, disqualify him from holding office.

Atiku’s legal team underscored the significance of this evidence, highlighting that it was unobtainable during the initial trial and therefore must be considered for a fair resolution. They referenced a constitutional provision that unequivocally deems anyone presenting a forged certificate to INEC ineligible for all future elections, emphasizing the vital importance of upholding the integrity of the electoral process.

This development comes after Atiku’s earlier attempts to challenge Tinubu’s victory were dismissed on procedural grounds. Atiku’s legal representatives are now imploring the Supreme Court to rectify what they perceive as a miscarriage of justice. The Supreme Court, yet to schedule a hearing, stands at the center of this legal storm, where the future of the presidency hangs in the balance. Stay tuned for further updates on this riveting legal battle.
