Afrobeats sensation Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, is set to light up the London O2 Arena for the second time. The announcement, made via an Instagram post on Tuesday, has thrilled fans worldwide. Asake is currently on his ‘Lungu Boy World Tour,’ and he will grace the stage of the 20,000-capacity auditorium on September 21.
In his Instagram post, Asake shared his excitement about the tour: “I’m super excited to announce that my tour ‘Lungu Boy World Tour’ is coming to a city near you. London Lungu BY is Active @theo2london Saturday 21st September.” This performance is a significant highlight in his tour, which started in Portimao, Portugal, on June 20 and will conclude on October 6 in Gold Coast, Australia.
Asake’s journey to stardom began with his signing to YBNL Nation in February 2022. That same month, he released his debut extended play, *Ololade*, featuring the breakthrough track ‘Omo Ope’ and a collaboration with Olamide on the single ‘Sungba.’ His talent has earned him numerous awards and recognitions, including a recent Grammy nomination in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category for ‘Amapiano,’ his hit song with Olamide.
In 2023, Asake won the music prize at the Future Awards. Today, the Grammy-nominated Nigerian Afrobeats superstar has announced a headline London date as part of his 2024 Lungu Boy World Tour, supporting his forthcoming album set for release later this summer. Following a summer of international performances across North America and Europe, Asake will bring his Lungu Boy World Tour to London’s The O2 Arena on September 21, 2024.
